Vuvuzela

The vuvuzelas seem to be causing some polarised opinions amongst fans, as exemplified in the comments section on this news story in The Guardian today.

So what’s your opinion?

I have mixed feelings on this. I don’t think they should be banned but they are annoying.

Initially I thought it was quite amusing, but equally I agree that not being able to hear a “proper” crowd reaction to the game is a big loss.

Also, as a regular visitor to RSA, I’ve never seen or heard a vuvuzela, so I’m not convinced by the argument that this is “traditional”.

Imagine travelling all that way to go and support your team – and then your team can’t even hear your support because of all the vuvuzelas. I liked the novelty at first, but now I hope they don’t make the transition to Premier League grounds.

A friend of mine was watching the England game in a pub and there was someone with a vuvuzela. Eventually someone turned round to him and said “if you blow that thing near me again you’ll find it down the back of your throat”

Ive had to mute every game Ive watched because of the drone of those awful monkey trumpets. Combined with the empty seats you wonder why fifa is so insistent on tarnishing their pony show in the shittier parts of the world.

Pitching Englad 2018 must be the easiest job in the world.

Ahem …. Cape Town is one of my top three favourite places ever!

Don’t knock it unless you’ve been there. ;-)
