Another bubble ?

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

FTSE has just enjoyed the best 3 months in its history.

While developed market shares have been rocketing up (admittedly from a place where they had to fall quite a lot to get to), emerging market shares have been doing even better.

What is your opinion. Is this the start of another bubble ? Or the long process of people making money from shares again ?

Who cares, I just wanted to post up her picture really. More proof if ever you needed it that women get more beautiful as they get older. Now we must have that conversation about the peeque brand sometime.

Apple

The good news is that there are now 32 GB and 64GB versions of the iPod. Which is great news for people like me who store lots of podcasts and audiobooks alongside my music. And with podcasts now moving to videocasts we will need the space.

The bad news is they cost £229 and £299, which is an enormous rip off. You can understand their pricing policy, there are few competitors out there (for now), and they have to generate big year on year increases to keep their shareholders happy. Their raison d’etre like any other corporation is to maximise shareholder returns. But this is a rip off. We need new entrants in this space.

Anyone know of any alternative makes and models who are offering the same stuff cheaper ?

Football has sold its soul. Roy Keane knew it, and I discovered it last night at Wembley. Great stadium, great accoustics, good England performance but …..

All of the Club Wembley area is crammed with restaurants with special meal packages at £85 – £100 per head. We couldn’t even get into any of these areas they were so full of corporate entertainment. So we ended up going to the champagne and seafood bar and eating plateau de fruits de mer and drinking champagne before the game.

And we had a good time. But for me it didn’t feel quite right, in fact it felt like heresy ….. and it’s certainly not football as I know it

How long now before the traditional fans have all gone ?

England v Croatia

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Got my first visit to new Wembley tonight to see England v Croatia. Find it hard to support the England team as I severely dislike a lot of the players in it. All the hypocrisy over the last few days about English players being honest and not diving has been getting on my nerves too. Would like England to qualify as group winners, but think they need a wake up call as they haven’t learnt that much from when Croatia played them off the park and put them out last time. I would rather they lose the odd match now and get wise than start losing games in South Africa.

So what I’d like for tonight is :

  • Rooney to get sent off for diving
  • Eduardo to nutmeg Terry before scoring the opening goal
  • Ashley Cole to mistime another backpass straight to Eduardo to slot away the winner

I really, really hope that FIFA don’t back down on this when Chelski appeal.

According to SSN, the average player age will be 31 at Chelsea by 2011 if this ban stays in place.
