How have you all been getting on with the snow in your region ?
I’ve not been into the office, nor hardly used the car since last Thursday. Just not worth the trouble.
Went out for a walk at around 6pm yesterday evening, and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. We’d had another 3 inches of snow falling throughout the afternoon. You were ok walking on the pavements, but when you crossed the road you were just walking on ice. Cars were not able to get any grip going up the hills and I had to help push a few. Loads of cars abandoned at the bottom of the hill. Spoke to a colleague of mine who lives closer to work than I do – it had taken him more than 4 hours to get home yesterday evening ? Madness.
Is it much the same round your way ?
Hoping it starts to p1ss down for a sustained period of time to wash it all away !
Mind Your Ps and Qs is now running on the new server and has been upgraded to Wordpress 2.8.2. If you spot anything peculiar, please add a comment to this post and I’ll try to sort it out.
Thanks are due to Double Bubble for waving his DNS magic wand, without which you wouldn’t be reading this!
A few inches of snow and the whole nation grinds to a halt.
What’s been your experience this week ? And will it stop the hordes of yummy mummies coming to our social on Friday ?
Take a look out of your windows right now. Can you see any fog ? Is it very thick ? Could it stop aeroplanes from landing.
Because I’m stuck in an airport lounge trying to get back home, and my flight keeps getting more and more delayed. Each time I ask about the flight they tell me to come back in an hours time. And once I’ve come back, they say, we’ll know more in another hour. And it’s not their fault, it’s the weather in London.
And although it’s still morning, the free alcohol on the table behind me is looking more and more appealing. But I’m abstaining because I’m supposed to be playing football tonight. if I get back.
So take a look outside your window. Could a plane land in that or should I set myself up for a long stay ?
Well you arrange to meet halfway don’t you. Like a mate of mine did this week. You arrange a meeting in a halfway location. Like Bangkok. What could possibly go wrong
So what happens next….
The meetings go well, and it’s time to head home. This is where things start to head south. They get caught up in a military coup. The airport is blockaded and they can’t leave. He misses his flight and has to wait. People are getting desparate to leave the country and get back home. All trains down to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are booked up. A bunch of Americans he meets are so desparate to get home, they are driving to Cambodia, flying to Vietnam, and then from there to Hong Kong before flying home.
I’d rather be making my excuses at home, arranging a night out at Pussy Galore’s, and getting a boat out to Koh Samui, a few Singha beers, and the sun on your back until it all blows over. When you are tired of Thailand …..
