Should boys do ballet ?

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

Tonight the local dance school put on its show. There was tap, ballet, street dance and modern. Third niece did a fabulous solo on point (she has come on beautifully), third nephew did his bit of hip hop dancing. But he also did a bit of basic ballet, which left me feeling well more than  a little uncomfortable in the audience. His mum is dead keen on him learning, and his teachers are saying that he has talent, but me, I’m saying nothing at all right now, I’m zipping it completely ….. all I know was that if I’d done it when I was younger and my classmates had cottoned on ….

Which got me thinking, is it so wrong for young boys to learn ballet ? Or should you completely ignore the peer pressure.

And before answering, take a look at this for inspiration

Sydney model Naumoska poses in Sydney STEPHANIE NAUMOSKA

BEAUTIFUL OR JUST PLAIN DANGEROUS ? What do you think ?

My vote is for just plain dangerous – particularly for young girls wanting to get to that body shape, who can’t do it without endangering their health.

Dream Analysis

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

I had a dream last night that I went round to mingey’s house and I could hear sounds coming from his attic. I pointed this out to him, and he claimed he had double bubble and pork chop (master of the universe) locked up there and he was doing a big brother experiment.

Can anyone analyse the meaning of this dream for me ?

PS did watch heroes before going to bed

Finding Inner Peace

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me and we could all use more calm in our lives.

By following the simple advice I heard, I have finally found inner peace. A doctor proclaimed the way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things that you have started.

So I looked round my house to see things that I had started and hadn’t finished and, before starting work (!) this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of shhhardonay, a bodle of Baileys, a butle of vocka, a pockage of Prunglies, the mainder of bot Prozic and Valium scriptins, the res of the chesecke an a box a chocolets.

Yu haf no idr who fkin gud I fel.

From the Grauniad …

http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2008/aug/15/foodanddrink.michaelphelps

Lots of opportunity for comment and hobby horses there – for example, is this the ultimate proof that “Doctor” Gillian McKeith talks nonsense? Or maybe that the Olympics are at such a ridiculous extreme that you now have to do yourself long-term harm to be a winner?

Let the bunfight begin!

Made a few healthy changes

Friday, July 18th, 2008

ok, I’m going to ‘fess up, but only to you guys and only on this forum, on the basis that what goes on in this forum stays in this forum. I’ve made a few changes to my lifestyle and I’m feeling a lot more energetic, positive and calm as a result of it. This has been going back around 3 months.

1. Coffee – I’m down to 1 cup a day. The rest of the time I am drinking green tea. This is down from 7-8 cups a day. I’m quite strict with myself on it, even down to drinking green tea in Starbucks.

2. Traditional Chinese Medicine – following my trip to China, I’ve started having regular appointments with an acupuncturist. The woman is a genius. She has been treating me for hay fever, asthma and stress. Since my teens I’ve been suffering really badly from asthma June – mid August especially when it rained. This year I haven’t suffered had any hay fever or asthma symptoms. I don’t know what she’s done (well I do have some idea, but that’s another post, and quite a long one), but it’s worked. It could be down to 1,3 and 4 but I am also a lot less stressed out.

3. Tai Chi – doing this every Friday lunchtime and practicing when I can. Again it’s a traditional Chinese treatment for maintaining good health – a cross between meditation and exercise with slow movements. Very good for well being and a sense of calm

4. Meditation – not been as good on these as I have on the other three, but have been doing some meditations, some of which contain NLP. Have been doing them as and when I remember. These are guided and I’ve downloaded these from i_Tunes.

Result – say what you like – and I’m not expecting this to go unchallenged.

I’m still a good stone heavier than I’d like to be (maybe that will be next thing to tackle) but honestly speaking, I’ve never felt better.
